Medicare Rebates – Psychology

Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative allows adults and children to access psychological services and receive a rebate from Medicare for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

To be eligible for a Medicare rebate an individual must be referred by a GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist. If referred by a GP, this referral involves the preparation of a GP Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and may require a longer appointment to be booked.  Please ask your GP to email or fax a copy of your referral and MHCP to our Clinic.

If referred by a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist a referral letter under Better Access to Mental Health is to be prepared.  Please ask your specialist to email or fax a copy of your referral and MHCP to our Clinic.

Please ensure that you discuss your eligibility with your GP or Specialist prior to booking your appointment with Perth Psychological Services.

Rebate amounts (what you receive back from Medicare once your account has been paid in full):

Endorsed Clinical Psychologists – $131.65

Clinical Psychologist Registrars –  $ 89.25

Payments

Payment for sessions are made on the day of your appointment.  Eftpos facilities are available at our North Perth and Falcon clinics.  Cash is not accepted at our Falcon clinic.  Direct deposit payments are accepted by prior arrangement.

Third Party Payments

If a third party is responsible for payment of your account, please provide us with these details upon booking your initial appointment and we will arrange the account to be set up prior to your appointment.

Prior approval is sought from third party payees for a specific number of sessions, any non-payment by third party, becomes the clients responsibility to settle the account.

  • Cancellation under 24hrs prior to appointment: Full fee per session
  • Non Attendance: Full fee charged for clients who fail to attend an appointment.
  • Most third party payees do not cover non-attendance or cancellation fees, the client will be responsible for payment of any missed or late cancellations of appointments.
