Dr Richard Midford

Director / Senior Clinical Psychologist
B.A., B. Psych., M.Psych (Clin), PhD

I have worked as a clinical psychologist for more than 30 years providing assessment and therapy to a broad range of adolescents and adults.  My working life has combined academic research and clinical practice.   As a clinician I have particular expertise in the prevention and treatment of alcohol and other drug problems. I have further expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of adolescents and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Over many years I have provided consultancies on drug education and harm reduction policies and practices to WHO, Australian and New Zealand governments, mining companies and local communities. I have previously worked at the National Drug Research Institute, Curtin University and at the Menzies School of Health Research, Charles Darwin University.

I have published over 150 journal articles, monographs, books and book chapters.

I have recently published a book which explores the relationship between health and education and how that provides a foundation for achieving improved life outcomes. If this is of interest to you, please have a look at the link below.
