I am a Clinical Psychology Registrar, working in both the Falcon and North Perth offices. I am very gentle in my approach to psychological issues, as I believe that most people are already criticising themselves enough already! My aim is to understand and support and work collaboratively, to help my clients achieve their mental health goals. I have recently published a research article on ‘self-compassion’ and am passionate about replacing our negative and judgmental inner voice, with a kinder way of self-relating, to reduce depression and anxiety symptoms and promote resilience and optimism.
I would describe myself as an eclectic Clinician, drawing from a variety of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Skills Training, Behavioural Psychology (including functional assessments), Imagery Rescripting for trauma, Schema Therapy and Mindfulness. I have worked in private practice, not-for-profit organisations (trauma focused) and community mental health (acute and comorbid mental health).
I have diverse experience working with a range of psychological issues, and enjoy working across varying ages and developmental stages. My areas of interest include: anxiety and depression, trauma, parenting skills / child behaviour, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, emotion regulation, grief and loss. As a Mother myself, I especially enjoy working with children and families and supporting parents with positive parenting techniques, emotion coaching and emotion regulation skills. My previous experience as a Behavioural Therapist (working with children with Autism and Developmental Delay), has afforded me a unique insight into working with families in a warm and empathic way.
